Joel Maddox, 42, died April 16, 1999, of cancer.  Cremation.  A celebration of his life was held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Rose City Funeral Home in Portland, OR.  The family suggests rememberances to Providence Hospice.  Mr. Maddox was born January 16, 1957, in Kansas City, MO.  He moved to Portland in 1986.  He was a dot etcher for Graphic Arts Center for 10 years and for the past three years owned J.E. Maddox and Son Tropicals, a wholesale plant business.  He married Debbie Stokesbury in 1985.  Survivors include his wife and son, Taylor, both of Portland; parents, Hugh and Judy of Bella Vista, AR, and sisters Cyndee Manaugh of Denver, Melinda Finney of Kansas City, MO and Suaznne Renegar of Overland Park, KS.  Until moving to Portland, OR, Joel was a resident of Johnson County, KS.  He attended Roeland Park elementary school, Old Mission Jr. High and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1975.
